Located in Hye, Texas just off Highway 290, our contemporary, relaxing tasting room opened in late 2023 and offers wine tastings, wine and food pairing events, small plates made with locally sourced items and live music.  Enjoy indoor or outdoor seating.  Kid friendly and dogs are permitted on lease.

Our wines are crafted from 100% Texas grapes from our estate vineyard as well as other exceptional Texas vineyards.  Our winemaker and owner Janet strives to produce well-balanced, clean wines that can stand alone or be enjoyed with food.  She also likes to focus on single varietal, single vineyard wines where possible and produce the best expression of that grape and highlight the time and place it was grown.

Janet is the owner and winemaker for Portree Cellars.  She started her professional winemaking journey in 2021 in the cellar at Kerrville Hills Winery, making her wines alongside other talented Texas winemakers.  She also completed the Texas Tech University Enology Certificate Program in 2022.  She loves producing single varietal wines to showcase the time and place of each vintage.  Her wines are all 100% Texas, with grapes sourced from across the state including the estate vineyard.  She strives to produce clean,approachable wines that are enjoyed with or without food and are age-worthy.  Her wines have won acclaim at the San Francisco Chronicle, Texsom, Houston Livestock show and Rodeo and other competitions.  One of her past times is art, most recently painting, and she enjoys weaving that passion into her winemaking, both in the bottle and on the labels.

Janet Miertschin

Mark started his wine journey many years ago when he and his wife Janet were living overseas, enjoying delicious wines from around the world.  He had a dream that one day he would own a vineyard and produce exceptional wines.  In 2018, he completed the UC Davis viticulture and enology certificate program and launched into making wines at home from kits and later, from grapes.  His passion for growing led him and Janet to invest in 28 acres of raw land in the Texas Hill Country where he planted several varietals well-suited to the Texas heat: Mourvedre, Tannat, Aglianico, Fiano, Touriga Nacional and Malvasia Bianca.  He led their efforts to develop the vineyard, tasting room and various amenities to open a beautiful, modern tasting space overlooking the estate vineyard.
