Janet is the owner and winemaker for Portree Cellars. She started her professional winemaking journey in 2021 in the cellar at Kerrville Hills Winery, making her wines alongside other talented Texas winemakers. She also completed the Texas Tech University Enology Certificate Program in 2022. She loves producing single varietal wines to showcase the time and place of each vintage. Her wines are all 100% Texas, with grapes sourced from across the state including the estate vineyard. She strives to produce clean,approachable wines that are enjoyed with or without food and are age-worthy. Her wines have won acclaim at the San Francisco Chronicle, Texsom, Houston Livestock show and Rodeo and other competitions. One of her past times is art, most recently painting, and she enjoys weaving that passion into her winemaking, both in the bottle and on the labels.
